Packers & Vikings Head NFC North NFL Gambling Win Totals

Two teams from the NFC North are getting lots of NFL wagering interest at the sportsbook, and the time to bet NFL lines is now.

The Vikings and Green Bay Packers both have regular season win totals of 9.5. It is possible to make a football betting wager on the Green Bay Packers going over or under that win total, although the over is -150.

NFL gambling odds on the Vikings win total is slightly different. It is the same number at 9.5 but the over is only -120. Green Bay is a quite minor fave to win the NFC North this season so it adds up that their probabilities are a little higher. Remember that both squads easily went over the total of 9.5 games last season. The Vikings were 12-4 and won the division while the Packers were 2nd at 11-5. The NFC North in total is anticipated to be better, which is likely the reason that the total on Minnesota and Green Bay is 9.5 instead of 10 or 10.5. If the Vikings get Brett Favre to return at quarterback as expected, then Minnesota could get some action on their win total and on their total odds to win the NFC North and the Super Bowl.

The Bears were 7-9 last season and their win total in football betting futures is 7.5. The Chicago Bears are supposed to be greater though and the over is getting action on this number at -155. In order for the over to be a victor Chicago would only have to finish at .500, and early action is directed that way. Mike Martz is the Chicago Bears newest offensive coordinator, and they’ve also got a huge name defensive addition in Julius Peppers and lots of optimism. The Bears not too long ago obtained Peppers after he became an unrestricted free agent in February of this year. They brought him in to a 6-year, $91.5 milLion contract with $42 milLion certain in the first 3 years. Peppers should be worth it. In the 2002 NFL Draft, he was the second in total pick by the Carolina Panthers. He’s been on the All-Pro Team twice and he has been selected for the NFC Pro Bowl 5 times.

The Lions won only two games a year ago, however when you see their win total you may understand why the NFC North is anticipated to be stronger. A lot of individuals think that the Detroit Lions are going to be vastly better in 2010, although the under is -160, and Detroit’s win total is 5.5. The team made some fine off-season additions and they will be improved on both sides of the ball. No longer are the Lions going to be regarded as an automatic win for opposing teams.

Win totals are a fantastic way to be in the action for the entire 2010 NFL season. You can be rooting for or against a squad all year long with just 1 wager. The NFC North should give gamblers something to think about with some interesting numbers.

Advice for Coaches of Young Athletes

This is a quick message for football coaches at the youth level, freshman and junior varsity high school level.  As a coach that would be self-described as an “ultra-competitive” person this is difficult for me to discuss, but is extremely important.  Here we go…the  primary   goal for coaches who are priveledged enough to coach young football players must focus on teaching proper techniques and mechanics.  Winning games at this level should not be the top priority.  This fact can not be forgotten by youth coaches.  Rather than teaching proper technique and relying on sound schemes to produce victories, many coaches focus attention on trick plays or the few “star” players on their team .  Coaches that interact with young players must realize that their first priority is to teach these athletes proper skills early on, so they will be successful when they get to the varsity high school level .  Far too many skills are having to be re-taught as these young players come up through the various levels.  Ultimately, the success and longevity of a players career can be traced back to proper training at a young age .

To be clear in my message, I do not believe that coaches, at any level, should not try and win games.  Personally, I am “ultra-competitive”.  My belief is that we play the game to win the game.  Losing is a terrible feeling, and one that should not be accepted.  However, there are far too many coaches (at all levels and sports) put the premium of winning ahead of preparing their players for success throughout their player days.  Youth coaches should also teach the pride in winning games as a team, rather than being individuals.  Unfortunately , many high school athletes aren’t given the opportunity to achieve their goal of playing college athletics because they are lacking the proper technique and skills required to do so.

Here is a helpful hint for coaches of all levels:  Our goal as coaches is not to re-live our playing days through our players and stroke our ego by winning games.  Our goal is to help our players maximize their playing days and have their long-term success reflect on us .  A fantastic site was created to help football coaches get the most relevant and useful information to assist coaches, at any level, in preparing their players for maximum success.  Take advantage of the fact that you can focus on winning the right way rather than just winning.  Coaches at the college and professional level are under unbelieveable pressure to WIN, enjoy not being in those shoes .

Happy Coaching…Success=Preparation+Heart.

NFL Preseason Odds – Rams Have Nowhere to Move but Up

NFL betting at sbg will have the Rams as one of the long shot NFL gambling options to make the Super Bowl this season after a 1-15 straight up mark last year.

NFL preseason odds odds makers at the sportsbook could also want to take into account, nonetheless, that with such low potential the St Louis Rams may turn into a reliable NFL gambling board value.

In reality, even with that 1-15 mark, the Rams went 7-9 vs the spread last year and got the cash in 5 from their last 9 games of 2009. It was a common illustration of how even the saddest squad in the league can bring exceptional board value as the year goes on based on public belief.

The more the general betting public opposes a team, the more value they will usually bring as the line makers will enhance their price in order to attract a hesitant public into making bets with them. Those added points given usually prove to be the difference between a payoff and a loss.

Rookie quarterback Sam Bradford, who was the first total pick in the draft last spring from Oklahoma, where he missed nearly all of last season due to the fact of an injury in the 1st match of the season, represents a new era beginning for the St Louis Rams in 2010. He was the Heisman Trophy champ for the Sooners in 2008. With 36 touchdown passes, he also holds the NCAA history for touchdown passes by a freshman. At the Rams’ rookie minicamp in late April and early May, Bradford made a great effect.

Since they concluded 29th total in total offense and a dead last 32nd in the NFL for scoring, the Rams can surely use Bradford.

“I’m excited about this year,” said Bradford. “This being my rookie season, that’s all I’m focused on right now, trying to learn as much as possible as soon as possible and helping my team win.” Head coach Steve Spagnuolo will begin his second year as coach by attempting to put a winning combination together. He has confronted the football gambling handicap of leading a team that is for sale and cutting costs. It is also his first head coaching position. He was formerly a linebackers and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, before being appointed as the defensive coordinator for the Giants. He spent 2 years with the New York Giants and was the creator of the ambitious defensive approach vs the New York Patriots in the Super Bowl in the 2007 season. For the Giants, it was a huge upset win.

The St Louis Rams are often rumored to be potentially moving out of St Louis, where they are in need of a new stadium, so the instability has been a huge challenge to try and get over.

Bradford is the one major exemption to the fact that the St Louis Rams have signed 8 out of their 11 draft picks. It has been said that Bradford is looking for a signing bonus of between $45 and $50 million.

St Louis will open preseason play on August 14 at home vs the Minnesota Vikings.
