New York Giants "Simm-ply Super" Lithograph
The Giants- once considered one of the most cherished of all football teams- had been on a free fall since 1964. Finally- in ‘86- everything would come together. Posting an amazing record of 14-2- the Giants would storm through the playoffs- en route to the team’s first championship game since 1963. In the big game against Denver- Simms was masterful. With Denver leading 10-9 in the third quarter- Simms marched his team on a 63 yard scoring drive that culminated with a 13 yard touchdown pass to inspirational tight end- Mark Bavaro. After snaring the ball in the end-zone- Bavaro knelt down on a knee- as if to be giving thanks to be part of this special moment. Later in the second half the game was put away as Simms connected with Phil McConkey on a six yard scoring play. Simms completed an astounding 22 passes in 25 attempts- surging his team past Denver in the second half en route to a 39-20 rout. Item measures 13.75” x 21”
